Angela McKeown - Nursery Manager

Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.


Angela has 11 years experience with the setting and working with young children of all ages.. Angela's main area of expertise is with the babies, and worked as the Jelly Baby Room Supervisor for many years before taking on the role of Nursery Manager. Angela left college with a National Diploma in Childhood Studies. Angela has just achieved her Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.

Angela has a wealth of training including SEN and CAF training, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Level 1 and and is one of our Child Protection, Designated Lead Practitioners.

Angela also holds an up to date Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Catering, Level 2 Certificate in Customer Services and NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Personal and Social Development.

Deanne Bole - Nursery Manager

Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.


Deanne has over fourteen years experience working with children and has now worked at Briercliffe Day Nursery for over thirteen years. Deanne left college with a National Diploma in Childhood Studies. Deanne has achieved her Level 4 whilst working here at Briercliffe Nurser has just recently achieved her Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.

Deanne has a wealth of training including SEN and CAF training, Paediatric First Aid, Defibrillator training, Safeguarding Level 1 and is one of our Child Protection, Designated Lead Practitioners.

Deanne also holds an up to date Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Catering, NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity, Smile 4 Life accreditation and is our Oral Health Champion.

Deanne truly loves her job and her ethos within childcare is to:

Kristen Baxendale - Nursery Practitioner

CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People's Workforce


Miss Kristen has 7 years experience working with children aged 3-4 years. Miss Kristen is based in the Jelly Fish room and loves working with the 3-4 year olds.

Miss Kristen has her Level 3 in Childcare. Miss Kristen is our named Special Educational Needs Coordinator and has a wealth of training including SEN training, Food Hygiene Certificate, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2 and Behaviour Management training.

Miss Kristen says:
"I love working in the Jelly Fish room with the pre-school children and watching them grow and learn. All the children have their own little personalities and are so loving and caring. They make me laugh everyday!".

Lisa Milner - Assistant Manager /Messy Jellies Supervisor

Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.


Miss Lisa has 6 years experience working with children aged 1-2 years and is now based in the 2-3 room. Miss Lisa is our Assistant Manager and is based as Supervisor in the Messy Jellies room and loves the new challenge working with this new age group.

Miss Lisa is our assistant Fire Safety Officer and has gained her First Aid Certificate, Safeguarding Level 1 and is one of our Child Protection, Designated Lead Practitioners

Lisa also holds certificates in NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Personal and Social Development and Level 2 Certificate in Customer Services. Miss Lisa has just recently achieved her Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services.

Miss Lisa says
“I enjoy being part of Briercliffe Day Nursery, especially this age (1- 2 years). It is rewarding to see how the children grow and develop through stimulating activities that are planned”.

Brogan Smale - Jelly Baby Supervisor

BTEC Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.


Miss Brogan has 4 years experience working with children and is the supervisor in the Jelly Babies room.

Miss Brogan has completed her Level 3 in Children’s Care and Learning and has also gained a Level 1 in Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Level 2 In Customer Services.


Miss Brogan says:
" I love working at Briercliffe Nursery, it is like my extended family. I enjoy helping the babies to grow and develop their little characters. The best part of my job is that I get to watch and help children grow and develop and see what lovely young boys and girls they turn into”.

Lisa Andrews - Nursery Practitioner

BTEC National Certificate in Early Years


Miss Lisa has worked with children of all ages and is currently based with the 2-3 year old children in the Messy Jellies Room.

Miss Lisa has a wealth of training including Safeguarding Level 1, Paediatric First Aid, ICAN training and Level 2 Certificate in Customer Services.

Miss Lisa really enjoys working with children this age, and finds it rewarding to watch each child learn, grow and develop.

Miss Lisa says:
"I enjoy working with the 2-3 year old children and it is rewarding to see how much the chidren grow and develop their own little personalities".

Claire Gibson - Nursery Practitioner

EDEXCEL Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare


Miss Claire gained her Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare through an apprenticeship whilst working at nursery. Miss Claire has had experience in working in different rooms and is currently based in the Jelly Baby room.

Miss Claire is trained in Paediatric First Aid and has Safeguarding Level 1.

Ruby Cuprys - Nursery Practitioner

Level 2 Practitioner in Early Years Education.


Miss Ruby started her apprenticeship with us in March 2015 and has completed her Level 2 Certificate in Childcare. Ruby has started her Level 3 in Childcare and Education last September.

Ruby is based in the Jelly Baby Room and is Level 1 Safeguarding trained and Paediatric First Aid trained.

Miss Ruby says:
" My role is to assist with the children's development through active play and learning. I also help to prepare the children with their transition to their next room. I enjoy working with this age of children."

Natalie Gibbons - Nursery Practitioner

NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce


Miss Natalie works part time at Briercliffe Day Nursery and is currently covering for maternity leave. Miss Natalie helps in all rooms and sees this as an advantage as she gets to work with all the staff, in the kitchen and interact with all the children in the setting.

Miss Natalie has a Level 2 in Food Safety and Catering, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Level 1 and has just recently achieved her Level 3 in Childcare and Education.

Miss Natalie says:
"As part of the bank staff team I get to cover in all rooms as and when i'm needed. I enjoy the variety this role brings, and I get to work with children of all ages, and I am able to watch them develop and progress as they move up through the different rooms within the nursery".

Leanne Wareing - Nursery Practitioner

NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development


Miss Leanne is currently based in the Messy Jellies room.

Miss Leanne is trained in Paediatric First Aid and has Safeguarding Level 1.

Miss Leanne says:
"I enjoy my job as it is very rewarding to watch the children learn and develop throughout their time at nursery".

Joanne Ashworth - Jelly Tot room Supervisor

Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People's Workforce


Miss Joanne has completed her Level 3 in Childcare and has recently been promoted to supervisor of the Jelly Tot's room.

Miss Joanne is trained in Paediatric First Aid and has Safeguarding Level 1.


Joanne says:
“I love coming to work at the nursery. As soon as you go through the door you get greeted by the children who are always happy to see you and have smiles on their faces.
I have taken on a new role as the room Supervisor in the Jelly Tots room and I am enjoying the challenge.
I never thought I would enjoy working with the staff and the children here at Briercliffe Day Nursery as much as I do, but being able to be a part of a child's development and seeing them grow and develop into the amazing boys and girls they are is one of the most rewarding things I Have ever done”.

Lauren McCloskey - Nursery Practitioner

BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.


Miss Lauren has worked with children for 5 years and has had experience working with children of all ages. Miss Lauren is currently based in the Messy Jellies room.

Miss Lauren has completed Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. and has a wealth of training including Level 2 Qualification in Team Leading, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding level 1.

Miss Lauren is currently on Maternity leave.

Lisa McKavett - Nursery Practitioner

NNEB Certificate in Nursery Nursing


Miss Lisa has 25 years experience working in child care settings and has brought a wide range of new experiences and activities to the team, which the children really enjoy getting involved with.

Miss Lisa currently working as a bank staff member of the team and MIss Lisa enjoys covering in all rooms.

Miss Lisa is trained in Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 in Food Safety and Catering, CAF training and has Safeguarding Level 1.

Miss Lisa says:
" I love working with children as everyday is rewarding watching each individual child grow and develop their abilities ready for their next adventure".

Lindsay Wareing - Nursery Practitioner

Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People's Workforce


Miss Lindsay gained her Level 3 Diploma through an apprenticeship whilst working at nursery. Miss Lindsay has worked with children of all ages for 3 years. Miss Lindsay is currently based in the Jelly Fish Room working with the pre-school children.

Miss Lindsay is trained in Paediatric First Aid and has Safeguarding Level 1.

Lindsay says:
"My role is to encourage and support each childs development and to play a vital part in their health and well-being on a daily basis. I enjoy and get great pleasure out of watching each child grow and develop from when they first start at the nursery to when they move on to school. My job is so rewarding and i would not want to be in any other profession".

Miss Lindsay is currently on maternity leave.

Beverley Yarwood - Pre School/Jelly Fish Supervisor

Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies


Miss Beverley has worked with children for 8 years and is based in the Pre School/Jelly Fish room and really enjoys working with children aged 3-4 years..

Miss Beverley has gained her Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Beverley is also trained in Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 in Food Safety and Catering and has Safeguarding Level 1.

Miss Beverley says:
"I love coming to work, as every day is different and the children really motivate me. I love to see their progress and achievements and makes me proud to be a part of that".

Jodie Rukin - Nursery Practitioner

BTEC Level 3 in Children's Care and Learning


Miss Jodie has worked with children for 6 years and is based in the Pre School/Jelly Fish room and really enjoys working with children aged 3-4 years..

Miss Jodie gained a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care and Learning. Miss Jodie is our Fire Safety Officer and has gained her Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Safeguarding level 1. Miss Jodie has also been studying at college part time and gained her Level 1 and 2 in English and Level 1 in Numeracy.

Miss Jodie has just recently taken part in a Letters and Sounds workshop that she really enjoyed and has been able to implement new ideas in the Jelly Fish room.

Miss Jodie says:
"I love my job as a nursery practitioner and love to help children progress. I feel that my job is very rewarding".

Courtney Barlow - Nursery Practitioner

Level 2 Children and Young People's Workforce.


Miss Courtney started with us in June 2017 and has completed her Level 2 Certificate in Children, Young Peoples workforce. Courtney has recently started her Level 3 in Childcare and Education .

Coutney is based in the Pre-School/Jelly Fish Room and is Level 1 Safeguarding trained and Paediatric First Aid trained.

Miss Courtney says:
" I have loved my time at Briercliffe so far. I love getting to know the children as individuals and helping them to develop and progress.

Jade Chamberlain-Modern Apprentice

Modern Apprenticeship - Nelson & Colne College


Miss Jade started her apprenticeship with us in April 2016 and is working towards her Level 3 in Childcare and Education.

Jade is based in the Pre School/Jelly Fish Room and is Level 1 Safeguarding trained and Paediatric First Aid trained.

Iram Kausar - Nursery Practitioner

BTEC National Diploma in Early Years.


Miss Iram has worked at Briercliffe for over eight years and works part time. Miss Iram helps in all rooms and see this as an advantage as she gets to work with all the staff and interact with all the children in the setting.

Miss Iram has a Level 3 Qualification in Childcare and is trained in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Level 1.

Joyce Graham - Nursery Cook

Level 2 in food safety and catering, food preparation and cooking


Miss Joyce is based as the nursery cook. Miss Joyce has completed an NVQ Qualification in Food and Catering and gained the Level 2 in Food Safety and Catering, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Level 1, and Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service.

Miss Joyce’s best achievement to date is achieving a level 5 Hygiene rating in the kitchen which Miss Joyce hopes to maintain for many years to come.

Miss Joyce enjoys working at nursery and loves the interaction she gets with all the children. Miss Joyce likes to interact with the children and she helps promote independence by guiding them in self service.
The children love to knock on the kitchen door in the mornings and ask Miss Joyce “what’s for dinner today Miss Joyce?”

Miss Joyce says:
“Although I work in the kitchen alone I still feel part of the team as I am included in many of the activities that take place."

Miss Joyce provides delicious, nutritional home cooked meals for the children. Lunches are prepared daily using mainly fresh ingredients and we cater for dietary requirements so please request a sample menu if required.

We are very proud to have achieved a 5 star rating from The Environmental Health Officer for an amazing 15 years running.

Jessica Rushton - Nursery Practitioner

BTEC National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development


Miss Jessica started with us in late December 2016 and is based in our Pre School /Jelly Fish room.

Miss Jessica is Level 1 Safeguarding trained and Paediatric First Aid trained and also has Level 1 British Sign Language..

Miss Jessica says:
"I really enjoy my role as a nursery practitioner in the Jelly Fish room here at Brercliffe Day Nursery. I find my role rewarding helping the children to developing and preparing them for school. "
